No more Thesis
Thesis simply didn’t do the sort of things I needed for clients, which was why I purchased it to begin with – at least it didn’t do them without me doing a lot of programming (HARDLY the point, quite the opposite in fact). I suppose there are those who are starting new sites for whom Thesis will work fine. There were just too many problems with existing customizations (that clients required be retained) to make it viable for me. The first site I customized took me 24 hours spread over 4 days, and the second one 40 hours, spread over 5 days – because it was far more complex (and some of the client’s requirements I was simply not able to retain even adding the plugin OpenHook into the mix). That’s too much. WAY too much – and I’m quite facile with wordpress and php. I can’t even fathom how someone new to the entire thing could manage.
Now, remains to be seen if the refund happens. I did receive the $40 client site option fee I paid on September 8. I have not as yet (since yesterday when I requested the refund) received the $164 I paid for the theme itself. The terms state full refund within 30 days of purchase – I purchased on August 23 and requested refund on September 20. By my reckoning, I should have already received $204 – not just $40….
[The sad thing is that I really like the "vanilla" Thesis "look". So I made my own with a similar clean look.... starting with a simple theme named Plainscape.]
[[Edited to add: I have now received the entire refund, so we're square.]]
