I acquired a wp.com blog, to use as a test because so many people are posting about problems with same on wp.org/support. It’s a “disabled” version of a real wp blog - no theme or plugin functionality, but as opposed to some of the posts on .org/support lately, I haven’t had any trouble at all with it functionality-wise. Works just fine….
However. The real bottom line is a fairly scary thing: anything you post is totally public. If you post on one of the linked-from-dashboard blogs, or any other wp.com blog, ANYONE IN THE WORLD can read what you post AND they will be able to follow you “home”!
Anonymous has no meaning at wp.com. Sorry, but that’s a very very scary situation. I’d be willing to bet that I won’t use it much longer - because I don’t want stalkers following me home….
Seems to be a regular thing about this time of year. I don’t pay a LOT of attention, but I do note that this time around, vkaryl.net and P O V are both at PR5, and even the newbies (Somebunnies, the Local Resource sites) are PR 4.
Not too bad for someone who pays no attention and does nothing. I ascribe it to knowing and linking BJ (kickass)!
MODx CMS is a pretty nice example of an open source product and community - now all I have to do is figure out how to use it, and of course how to template it!
are seemingly few and far between. Lately, thanks to BJ (kickass) I’ve had some good luck with both a directory script (phpLD) and a shopping cart (CubeCart). And thanks again to BJ (kickass), the phpLD directory is set up on a tableless template (as opposed to the absolutely antique method of using tables for layout).
So look out for FindSouthernUtah, Really Relevant Results, and CommunityFirstSource (using phpLD), and Somebunnies (& Others) (using CubeCart)!
for elk hunt. It would be lovely to get a nice spike bull this year - we’ve been really short on quality meat for some years now, the hunting has been pretty bad due to the drought.
And not long after this hunt, I have a tag for a buck as well. Hunting has been slow for deer for the same reason: the drought. We’ve had a really wet year so far in 2005, so maybe we’re starting a wetter cycle again. We can only hope….
